Welcome to Oak Class: Year Five & Six

Mr Griffiths is the class teacher and he is supported by Mrs Geddes, Miss Langdon, Miss Sharp, Mrs Wyatt, Ms Moores, Mrs Knott and Mrs Pithers. We also are lucky to have Mrs Fox, who is completing her teacher training with us.

What do we do in our class?

In class we have Termly Topics. This term our topic is called Frozen Kingdoms, which looks at the two polar regions and the environmental factors that shape and influence them, as well as the animal, wildlife and people that inhabit the areas. It also incorporates our Art topic, as we focus on significant Inuit Artists and their techniques.

In English this half-term we will be looking at writing wishing tales, information texts, and poems by Tony Mitton. In maths we will be focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages.

Our Science topic is all about electrical circuits and their components and how they function. We will be putting theories to the test about conductors and insulators as well as testing some theories of our own.

In RE, we will be looking at what Christian people believe about Salvation and how this links to the Easter Story.

In Music, we will be looking at different songs and dances from the 70's. We also have our 'Song of the Week' which introduces different artists and styles from the past.

ICT this half-term will be focusing on databases and in French, we will be learning to say what we did at the weekend.

Oh, and we'll also be looking at engineers and building bridges in DT.

All in all, it's going to be another busy term!
