Reading
Reading continues to be one of the most important skills for children to continually practise. Children are encouraged to read at least 3 times a week and to record their reading in their reading records..
At home please try to explore books by different authors and remember to read a range of styles of text eg fiction, non-fiction, poetry. Below is a link to some websites with recommended reading books for year 5 and year 6.

Our class book this term is 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo. It's about a boy who is washed up on an island in the Pacific and how he survives on his own, with the help of his dog (Stella) and a mystery figure. Who is the mystery figure and why is he there? Will he ever see his family again? It's a great adventure story by a fantastic author for this age group.
