Reading

Reading continues to be one of the most important skills for children to continually practise. Children are encouraged to read at least 3 times a week and to record their reading in their reading records..

At home please try to explore books by different authors and remember to read a range of styles of text eg fiction, non-fiction, poetry. Below is a link to some websites with recommended reading books for year 5 and year 6.

Our class book this term is 'The 1000 year old Boy' by Ross Welford. It's about a boy, Alfie Monk, who is a thousand years old and can remember the vikings. He is living in a house in the woods with his mum, when he meets two local children, Aidan and Roxy. Can he keep his past a secret? Does he even want to anymore? It's a great adventure story by a fantastic author for this age group.
