Summer Term 2026
In our phonics over the Summer Term the children will be learning about adjacent consonants and adding endings such as -ed and -ing.
This term the children in Reception will be learning about the topic, “Sunshine and Sunflowers”.
This seasonal project provides opportunities for outdoor learning and teaches children how to care for the plants and animals in their local environment and how to stay safe in the sun.
We will explores lifecycles of animals and plants, mainly butterflies and sunflowers. We will be planting seeds and caring for them in hope to see them grow. We will also plan a picnic to enjoy.

In maths our focus will be;
Simple addition to 10.
Take away equations within 10.
Exploring teen numbers through recognition, counting and ordering.
Our Christian Value for this half term is Friendship.
After half term, they will be learning all about “Big Wide World”.
This project teaches children about the global community to which they belong and explores how living things, communities and climates differ around the world.
It teaches children about the world in which we live in and how we can explore it through holidays and other peoples experiences.

All are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold
Under the Same Sky by Britta Teckentrup
Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon
and variety of fiction and non-fiction books about different cultures and countries.
In maths our focus will be;
Finding and making doubles within 10.
Revisiting odds and evens.
This half term the Christian Value will be Respect.
