Spring Term 2026
This term the children in Reception will be learning about the topic, “Starry Night”.
This project explores the differences in the world at night compared to during the day. It teaches children about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and helps them to discover what is happening in the world while they are sleeping, including finding out about nocturnal animals.
This will include stories;

In maths our focus will be;
Exploring numbers 0-8, looking at bonds to make them, and the patterns between them.
Learning about Mass and Capacity, where the children will be using different sized containers to predict and explore which holds more items. Also comparing cups of water and identifying if they are full or nearly full, empty or nearly empty.
After half term, they will be learning all about “Dangerous Dinosaurs”.
This exciting project teaches children about the different animals that roamed Earth millions of years ago and how they are related to animals that live on Earth today.
This will include stories;
Dear Dinosaur by Chae Strathie,
Cave Baby by Julia Donaldson,
and many dinosaur fact and fiction books.
In maths our focus will be;
Length, height and time.
Exploring numbers 9 and 10.
3D Shapes.
Our Christian Value for this half term is Hope and Aspiration and we will explore what this means to them. Next half term the Christian Value will be Perseverance.
